Lyra Science
Lyra Science is an international, peer-reviewed, open access publisher founded in 2026. We publish original research across 4 broad subject clusters – from the sciences and engineering to the arts and humanities – under a single principle: research that isn't read doesn't do much good. Every article we publish is free to read, download, and reuse from the day it's published.
Founder
Lyra Science was founded by Aleksandr Tkachev, PhD in Sociology.
Our mission
Academic publishing has historically put a paywall between finished research and the people who could use it – other researchers, practitioners, students, journalists, policymakers. We exist to remove that barrier without cutting corners on the review process that makes published research trustworthy in the first place. Rigorous peer review and open access aren't in tension for us – they're both part of the same commitment: publish work that holds up, and make sure it actually reaches the people it's for.
How we work
Every submission goes through independent double-blind peer review by reviewers with relevant subject expertise, overseen by an editorial board for each journal. Editorial decisions are made independently of any commercial consideration – an accepted manuscript is accepted because it meets the journal's standards, not because of who submitted it or where they're from. We publish continuously rather than batching articles into infrequent print-style issues, so accepted work reaches readers as soon as it's ready, not on a fixed publishing calendar.
