Peer Review Process
Every article we publish goes through independent expert review before acceptance – this is what makes an accepted manuscript trustworthy, regardless of the open access model it's published under. Here is how the process works.
Editorial screening
Every submission is first checked by the editorial team for scope, originality, and basic formatting requirements before being sent out for review.
Double-blind peer review
Manuscripts are assessed by two or more independent reviewers with relevant expertise, without either party knowing the other's identity. Reviewers evaluate quality, originality, methodological rigor, and significance to the journal's scope.
Editorial decision
Based on reviewer feedback, the editor reaches one of four outcomes: accept, minor revisions, major revisions, or reject.
Revision & re-review
If revisions are requested, authors resubmit an updated manuscript along with a response to reviewer comments. Revised manuscripts may be sent back to the original reviewers to confirm the concerns were addressed.
Final decision & publication
Once accepted, the manuscript proceeds to production – assigned a DOI, published under CC-BY, and made freely available immediately.
Frequently asked questions
Why double-blind specifically?
Neither reviewers nor authors know each other's identity during review. This reduces the chance that a reviewer's judgment is influenced by an author's reputation, institution, or prior work – the manuscript is assessed on its own merits.
Can I suggest or exclude specific reviewers?
Yes – the submission form lets you suggest qualified reviewers and note any individuals or institutions with a conflict of interest who shouldn't review your work. The editor still makes the final reviewer selection.
What if I disagree with a decision?
You can respond directly to the editor with your reasoning, referencing the specific reviewer comments in question. The editor may seek an additional independent opinion before finalizing the decision.
Where can I track my manuscript's status?
Every stage of review is visible in your author dashboard – you don't need to email the editorial office to check progress.
