1. Introduction and Legal Information

These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of this website and the Lyra Science author dashboard, including registering an account, submitting a manuscript, and the publication process. By creating an account, submitting a manuscript, or otherwise using this site, you agree to be bound by these terms.

The website and services are provided by Aleksandr Tkachev, an independent professional (autónomo) registered in Spain with Tax ID (NIF/NIE) Z5041445B, whose registered business address is Carrer D'en Robador 2, 08001 Barcelona, Spain, doing business under the commercial name "Lyra Science" (hereinafter referred to as "Lyra Science", "we", "us", or "our").

2. Accounts

You are responsible for the accuracy of the information on your account and for keeping your password confidential. You can also sign in with your ORCID iD – doing so links your ORCID iD to your account but does not provide us with access to anything beyond confirming your identity. One account should correspond to one person; do not register on behalf of someone else without their explicit authorization.

3. Manuscript Submissions and Author Warranties

By submitting a manuscript, you represent and warrant that:

• It is your own original work (or that of you and your co-authors).
• It has not been published elsewhere and is not currently under review at another journal.
• Every listed co-author has agreed to the submission and its content.
• You have obtained all necessary permissions for any material you do not own the rights to.
• Neither you nor your co-authors are subject to international sanctions that would prohibit Lyra Science from providing publication services to you.

4. Publication License & Article Processing Charges

Accepted manuscripts are published under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license. You retain the copyright of your work; publishing under this license means readers can reuse and redistribute it as long as they properly credit you as the author.

Publication is subject to an article processing charge (APC), which is payable only after your manuscript is accepted, not at the time of submission.

Consumer Rights and Waiver (EU/EEA Right of Withdrawal)

If you are a consumer in the EU/EEA, you would normally have a 14-day right to withdraw from an online purchase. By paying the article processing charge, you expressly request and consent that we begin final proofing, formatting, and publication services immediately. You acknowledge that once your article is published, you lose that right of withdrawal, as the service will have been fully performed.

5. Editorial Discretion and Retractions

Lyra Science reserves the right to reject, retract, correct, or remove any manuscript or published article at any time if we identify serious errors, research misconduct, plagiarism, or other breaches of our Publication Ethics policy, in accordance with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). The retraction or removal of an article for ethical violations or rights infringement does not entitle the author to a refund of any article processing charges.

6. Acceptable Use

When using this site or the author dashboard, you agree not to:

• Submit fraudulent, plagiarized, or copyright-infringing content.
• Attempt to access another author's account, submission, or personal data.
• Interfere with the normal operation, security, or integrity of the site.
• Scrape, bulk-download, or otherwise systematically extract site content using automated means outside normal reading and indexing purposes.

7. Site Content and Intellectual Property

Aside from the published articles (which are covered by the CC BY license mentioned above), the site's own design, underlying code, text, graphics, and branding belong exclusively to Lyra Science and may not be reproduced, distributed, or modified without our express written permission.

8. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

This site, the author dashboard, and the submission process are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We make reasonable efforts to keep the services available and to review submissions fairly and promptly, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access, error-free operation, or any particular publication outcome or timeline.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Lyra Science shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, revenue, or academic opportunities resulting from your use of or inability to use the site or services. Our total cumulative liability for any direct claims arising out of or relating to these terms or the publication process shall not exceed the total amount of article processing charges paid by you to us for the specific manuscript in question.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Lyra Science (Aleksandr Tkachev), its editors, reviewers, and affiliates from and against any claims, liabilities, losses, damages, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to:

• Your breach of these Terms of Use or our Publication Ethics policy.
• Any claim of copyright infringement, plagiarism, defamation, or other violation of third-party rights related to the content you submit.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms occasionally to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or services. The "Last reviewed" date at the top of this document reflects the latest version. Continuing to use the site or dashboard after a change becomes effective means you accept the updated terms.

11. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These terms and any disputes arising out of or in connection with them shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Spain, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles.

Any legal action, suit, or proceeding arising under or related to these terms shall be brought exclusively in the competent courts located in Barcelona, Spain, and you hereby irrevocably consent to the personal jurisdiction and venue of such courts.
